From 2024 onwards, I set yearly goals to improve my photography skills.

2024

  1. Better editing skills. I’m still a noob when it comes to editing. In 2024 I’ll be more experimental with my edits, starting with reproducing existing styles, then trying out different themes: natural, cinematic, retro, etc.
  2. Flash photography and shaping light. All I can do confidently is bounce the flash in good conditions. Start playing with light modifiers and outdoor flash scenarios.
  3. Favor wide angle over telephoto. Telephoto allows selective framing, and as such easy to use. I should force myself to shoot more wide angle shots (no justification to buying a Nikon Coolpix A or Ricoh GR3!)
  4. Get into macro photography. I have plenty of macro gear, and like macro photography a lot, just don’t do it.
  5. Shoot twelve rolls of film. This is carried over from 2023. I have an analog camera, and use it occasionally, why not regularly?
  6. Write to my blog at least once a month. Publishing to this blog has been hectic to say the least. This goal is not about writing, but putting back some structure into my photography adventure.
  7. Have six street photography photo walks. Street photography is fun, but takes effort to practice. Make that happen six times this year.
